The 3 Biggest Ebay Myths

The 3 Biggest Ebay Myths

If you have been reading this blog for any extended period of time, then you have probably come to realize that there are hundreds, if not thousands of ways to make money online.  From affiliate marketing to paid surveys, there are tons of ways for normal people just like you to create their very own “internet cash machines”!

But sometimes people forget that one of the first big money-making “crazes” online is still around today and it has been proven by millions of people, and continues to help people make billions of dollars every year.

I’m talking, of course, about eBay!

Ebay!?

Yes, eBay!  The same site that you bought your Grandmother’s birthday present from last year is still an extremely viable option to earn significant wealth online.  In fact, I know of a number of people who drive Porches, live in huge beachfront houses, and vacation for months at a time, and it’s all possible because of the money that they make by selling things through eBay.

Oftentimes, when I mention eBay to someone as an option to earn money online, people become skeptical based on the things they have heard or read about the online auction giant.  They have myths dancing through their heads about getting ripped off by customers, having to sell off all of their favorite things, or even just having to learn complicated eBay rules and processes in order to make a small profit.  As a result of these concerns, I have put together a quick list of the three biggest myths about getting started in an eBay business.

1.) I’m afraid that customers will rip me off or I won’t get paid for items I sell!

This is a common worry that most eBay newcomers have, and one that I completely understand.  Selling a product and sending it to a customer without being paid can be devastating, completely wiping away profit margins gained through other customers.  The good news is that eBay has completely changed from the early days of the service.  Today, eBay owns the PayPal company, which is one of the most secure online payment methods on the planet.  As a result, you can accept payments through PayPal for the goods that you sell through eBay, which allows you to ensure that you have the “money in the bank”, before you ship the product to the customer.

2.) EBay seems complicated!  I don’t want to learn all of the rules and processes!

I’ll be honest here, eBay is not for everyone.  There is a learning curve to making money through eBay, but if you know just a bit about computers (which you should since you’re reading this online), then it’s not nearly as hard as you think.  There are literally millions of websites offering information on the ins and outs of eBay, but wading through the mess to find the legitimate information can be slow and cumbersome.  What I recommend is finding a good eBay Auction Success Kit.  A good eBay guide like this can make all the difference in you quickly getting up-to-speed on how eBay works, so that you can start making money in no time at all!

3.) I don’t want to sell all of my favorite belongings in order to make money!

When eBay first came out, the “trendy” way to make money was to go through your attic or garage, find things that you didn’t need anymore, and post those items on eBay to sell to other people who were willing to pay you money for them.  For many people, this is a problem, since they don’t want to part with their belongings, especially when it comes to collectable or heirloom items.  Luckily in today’s eBay culture, there are loads of people who make thousands of dollars every day, who never sell one item of their own personal belongings.

I hope that after reading this post, some of you will give some thought to making eBay a part of your comprehensive “internet cash machine”.  With just a little bit of information and understanding, you can use this old auction site to make lots of money for you!
